Welcome to the journey of reading the Bible chronologically with guidance from The Bible Recap! We call this site “Read. Pray. Love. Daily.” because of the famous quote from John Wesley about the critical role of reading Scripture and prayer to have a vital, growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The goal, as Jesus defined it, is to be LOVING God with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves.
TBR engages Christians and other seekers in reading through the whole Bible in chronological order in one year. We are picking up when the NT portion begins which is October 1.
Each day you will find hyperlinks to the daily readings and the corresponding “devotional/commentary” podcast/videocast from the host of The Bible Recap, Tara-Leigh Cobble. The daily video is usually approximately 8-12 minutes.
Begin by REACHING UP IN PRAYER:
Before you read God’s Word today, ask for His help by praying these 5 prayers:
- God, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
- Let any knowledge I gain help me love You and others more, and not puff me up.
- Help me see something new about You that I’ve never seen before.
- Correct any lies I believe about You or anything I misunderstand.
- Direct my steps according to Your Word. Amen.
Now, RECEIVE GOD’S WORD:

- H.E.A.R. from God: As I prayerfully read this passage, what verse(s) is the Holy Spirit wanting to Highlight to write down and/or reflect on? How would I Explain in my own words what this passage/highlight means? How is the Holy Spirit leading me to faithfully and specifically Apply what I hear (in Adoration, Confession and Change, Thanksgiving and Testimony)? How should I specifically Respond to God in prayer, repentance, faith, worship, love, and obedience to what has been heard? To others in love?
