[TEST] Tuesday, October 1

Welcome to the journey of reading the Bible chronologically with guidance from The Bible Recap! We call this site “Read. Pray. Love. Daily.” because of the famous quote from John Wesley about the critical role of reading Scripture and prayer to have a vital, growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The goal, as Jesus defined it, is to be LOVING God with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves.

TBR engages Christians and other seekers in reading through the whole Bible in chronological order in one year. We are picking up when the NT portion begins which is October 1.

Each day you will find hyperlinks to the daily readings and the corresponding “devotional/commentary” podcast/videocast from the host of The Bible Recap, Tara-Leigh Cobble. The daily video is usually approximately 8-12 minutes.

BEGIN WITH PRAYER:

Before you read God’s Word today, ask for His help by praying these 5 prayers:

  1. God, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
  2. Let any knowledge I gain help me love You and others more, and not puff me up.
  3. Help me see something new about You that I’ve never seen before.
  4. Correct any lies I believe about You or anything I misunderstand.
  5. Direct my steps according to Your Word. Amen.

RESPONDING IN PRAYER & LOVE:

  1. Prayer of the Week (“The Asbury Prayer”):
    • Almighty God, keep Christ Lord of our lives. Keep our minds in Your Scriptures. Keep our hearts open to Your Holy Spirit. Help us to see the world as You see it. Help us stay true to Your mission. And as You find us faithful, make us a blessing to others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
  2. Special Weekly Prayer Focus:
    • The Holy Spirit’s guidance as our You Matter ministry considers moving to a “Dinner Church” model
  3. 5Q/SACTS Reflection: How is The “Three-in-One” God working through this Word of Scripture to empower and guide me/us to “Love God. Love People. Make Disciples.” wherever and with whomever this day? How specifically should I/we respond to Adore, Change/be Changed/Confess sin, Thank and Testify to God, and make Supplication to our God based on this Word?
