“Order of Worship” Ω

As we boldly approach the throne of grace that we may find mercy and grace in our time of need, one or both of the following two prayers may be helpful in being drawn to the Father through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit:

We give thanks to you, God our Father, for mercy that reaches out, for patience that waits our returning, for your love that is ever ready to welcome sinners. We praise you that in Jesus Christ you came to us with forgiveness, and that, by your Holy Spirit, you move us to repent and receive your love. Though we are sinners, you are faithful and worthy of all praise. We praise you, great God, in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. (Prayer of Adoration 1.4.17 — Worship Sourcebook 66 †)

Almighty God, Lord of heaven and earth, in you we live and move and have our being. You are the one who does good to all people, making your sun rise on the evil and on the good and sending rain on the just and on the unjust. Favorably behold us your servants, who call upon your name, and send us your blessing from heaven, giving us fruitful seasons, and satisfy us with food and gladness. May both our hearts and our mouths be continually filled with your praise, giving thanks to you in your holy church, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. (Prayers of Invocation C.1.4.6 — Worship Sourcebook 404 †)

Psalm for the Day – Psalm 3 (Sing)

Reading the Word – Acts 3 (3-Year Plan)

A period of silence may follow for reflection & recording insights. (For Reflection)

As we spend time with God in prayer (Listening as well as offering up prayers of Adoration, Confession of Sin, Thanksgiving, Surrender, & Supplication), we might include in our praying:

+Prayers for Ourselves, Our Families, the Church, & the World (Prayers II)

+The Jesus Creed*

+The Lord’s Prayer** (Prayed, Used as a Guide, or Both)

* – “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:29-31, NIV 2011).

** – Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Ω NOTE: The following “Order of Worship” is offered as a possible way into prayerful communion with the Triune God of the Bible and into earnestly listening for God’s revelation of His nature, saving work, and will through the Scriptures. However, depending upon your time limitations, interests, and convictions, one can “pick and choose” what it will look like for him or her to seek God through disciplined engagement with Scripture (“Read”) and Prayer (“Pray”) with the goal of receiving and reflecting the love of God (“Love”) every day of our lives (“Daily”).
